need to know

Grades - Anything turned in after the due date will be graded when I have time since it was late. If you have internet issues, you must inform me right away and we can take care of the grade in the moment as my class is spotty when everyone is on google at the same time.

The list of assignments that will be graded for the report card are listed on Skyward.

Please use the time I give you in class to work on it as it is plenty of time if you are here every day. If I see everyone is working and we need an extra day, then I will extend the due date no problem.

Tutorials:

Every Monday and Tuesday from 2:55 - 3:40 in E3203

Missed a day?

If you miss the day of class on the deadline (unexcused absence), then the due date stays the same and it is now late. If you miss the day of class on the deadline (excused absence) then the due date is the day you return and all in-class work that same day is not extended. If you miss a day or more before the due date, the due date stays the same and you need to attend Tutorials. Tutorials are provided every Monday and Tuesday for lost or extra time. Have a parent/guardian email me if there are any unforseen circumstances and we will work something out.

Late work:

Any work that was not turned in to google classroom on the due date will be graded as a zero until the work is submitted for a grade. One day to one week late is reduced by 10% from the grade earned. More than one week late is reduced by 30%. At the end of 9 weeks there are no more opportunities to turn in late work. "Active Participation" and "Sustained Investigation" (demonstrating effective use of art media and tools) are in the TEKS and therefore part of the overall grade in every assignment as it is part of a foundational skill set for success at every level.

Phones/headphones:

There will be times in Art where we need our phones to use a free art app, during our photography unit or turn in projects to google classroom. School ipads will also be provided for anyone to turn in projects that way. If there is a video you need to watch as part of an art enrichment or to learn a vocab word, then school headphones (provided in class) are to be used - never personal ones. On a no device day in class; any personal headphones, airpods and phones will be taken to C100 per school rules and can be picked up the same day after school.

rubric:

Details of each project wether it is a daily grade or major grade will be known when the project is presented to know what the specific "Objectives - Project Expectations" are for each project.

Critique awards

Critique Awards 1.jpg
Critique Awards 2.jpg

Cut the strip of the Critique Awards up and those are yours to give out to the Artist's work that is on display. One strip per person. Remember to write your name and class period on the back please.

Studio 2 planning Template... fill this out for every major project

Must be handwritten in DESIGN FONT to help you with your art skills.

You can design the layout to fit your style but all the things need to be there.

You will bring this up to me to have our Art Talk and that is how you get the final paper to create the main project.

The EVALUATE part will either be individual, small group or as an art critique with the whole class.

Extra Credit.jpg

EXTRA CREDIT

When you get done early, you can help someone who has a zero on an assignment. You’re not doing it for them… you are guiding them in the right direction and answering their questions, so they can finish. Let me know you are doing this before you start helping. 10 points/project once that person turns it in… come up with them to get your points.

DESIGN FONT

Always write your notes and quiz answers in this font to improve your drawing skills and handwriting.

THE QUICK BROWN FOX JUMPS OVER THE LAZY DOG contains all letters of the alphabet. It's called a pangram and is used to show you the examples of different fonts when downloading them.

HOW TO WRITE IT:

Use your attention to detail skills when drawing the letters as best as you can. Make special note of the letters, A, I, J, R, U, W and Y.

Positive News Example.png

GOOD NEWS

News is pretty sad lately so find anything that is positive to share. You will draw the flag of the country (using a ruler) or an image that sums up what the event is about.

Draw the flag measuring 2" x 3 1/4" and color it or draw something that the article is about.

Use Design Font when writing the positive event from that country.

NOTE: Try to fit at least 2 on one page to save space in your sketchbook.

Passports.jpg

PASSPORTS

Choose any country whose names begins with the letter of the week (this example is from week A). Emphasize that letter.

Draw the flag measuring 2" x 3 1/4" and color it.

Use Design Font when writing the current event from that country.

FAMOUS ARTIST

  1. See the list of Famous Artists and choose one to learn and write about.

  2. Research the Artist you chose and be able to fill out the questions below on your own paper in DESIGN FONT. You don’t have to write the question out – just put part of it as your answer so it makes sense. Write it in a paragraph, not a list please. Thanks!

  • Name of Artist?

  • What style of art is the artist known for? (ex: Impressionism, surrealism, cubism, muralist, pop art, abstract, sculpture, architect)

  • What medium did the artist use?

  • Name your favorite piece of artwork they created and what medium was used.

  • List two interesting facts you found out about them as a person or about their work. Not when they were born or married.

ORGANIZATION

Either use the calendar printouts and then replicate them in your sketchbook or use the calendar option on your phone/laptop - you can set alerts for when things are due. Watch the video below for changing colors to organize each class. Explore around with the calendar to know how to create reminders, set alerts, sync to your phone or find other videos on how to do that.
